Mohair
Mohair is renowned for its glossy sheen, silky texture, and excellent thermal properties. Its lightweight yet durable nature offers warmth without the bulk, making it ideal for year-round wear. Mohair also resists wrinkling and has natural elasticity, giving your garments longevity while maintaining a luxurious feel.
How to Wash and Care for Mohair
- Mohair doesn’t need frequent washing. Between wears, simply air out your mohair garments to freshen them up.
- Hand washing is the best method for mohair. Use cold water and a gentle, wool-friendly detergent. If machine washing, select a delicate cycle at 30°C or lower, using a mesh bag for extra protection.
- Skip the spin cycle to prevent matting and fiber damage. Instead, gently press out excess water with a clean towel and reshape the garment while damp.
- Lay mohair flat to dry, as hanging can stretch and distort its shape. For long-term storage, fold the garment and place it in a breathable cotton bag.
- Pilling is a common feature of mohair due to its soft fibers. Use a fabric shaver or pilling comb to carefully remove pills without damaging the delicate fibers.
