Linen
Linen is a natural fabric made from the fibers of the flax plant. These long fibers make linen durable, helping it maintain its shape over time and resist pilling. Thicker than cotton, linen has a distinctive texture. Known for its airy feel and light, breathable weave, linen dries quickly and is comfortable to wear, making it perfect for travel or warm weather.
How to Wash and Care for Linen
- Linen garments don’t require frequent washing, much like many other fabrics. Instead, hang them up to ventilate between wears.
- For machine washing, use a low spin cycle at 30°C. High temperatures can weaken the fibers and affect the dyes. If hand washing, rinse with lukewarm water.
- Air dry your linen pieces by hanging them up. Avoid tumble drying, as it can cause shrinkage or damage the fibers and consumes a lot of energy.
- Be cautious not to use thin wire hangers or clips that might leave marks or stretch the shoulders out of shape.
- Linen tends to crease easily. To minimize wrinkles, hang the garment in the bathroom while taking a hot shower, allowing the steam to reduce creases.
